Connect your dam to the grid
Community-scale hydro is a power play for the 21st century.
As nice as it would be for the world to get all of its energy from clean, renewable resources like hydroelectricity, it will never happen if the capital expense of the facility doesn't have a reasonable payback period and be financially sustainable for decades to come. Current Hydro's core passion is to design facilities that will meet or exceed a traditional investor's needs while being part of society's drive to a carbonless energy future.
Fish are stakeholders too
Hydropower facilities won't be financially sustainable if they don't work in harmony with the riverine environment. Current Hydro works with top fish and wildlife scientists to discover the species of interest at each site. We then design the energy making facility in such a way as to enhance fish migration, ensure wetland health, and mitigate downstream and upstream storm event damage.
Selecting a turbine
Selecting the right turbine for your site will be based on two main factors: 1) the height of the water drop from your pond to the water level below the turbine and 2) the average flow of water at your site measured in cubic meters per second or cubic feet per second
Governments Actually Like Energy Heroes
Looking at the permitting flowchart below it becomes clear why there aren't more hydroelectric facilities in America. But regulation is generally a very good thing, especially when it comes to environmental protection. Current Hydro will do the hard regulatory navigation work for you. We've found the process of commissioning your site becomes easier if together we do our stakeholder communication, environmental assessment, and technical and grid design homework upfront. The regulators like it when an energy hero comes in with his or her I's dotted and T's crossed.

Cleanest Is Greenest
Hydropower is the best renewable to combat climate change. At the same time it creates sustainable jobs...jobs that by necessity are in America and stay in America. Your site and our expertise really can make a difference financially and ecologically...sustainably!
Heroes Should Be Rewarded
Community-scaled hydropower provided much of the energy to build a young United States. Now is the right time for you to help bring it back. But that can only happen if we build ecologically AND financially sound facilities. So call or write us for a free site assessment to find out if your site can join the clean energy movement. If your stream runs year-round and your dam is a meter (3 feet) high or higher, odds are we can make it work. And at the dedication of your brand new 21st century hydro facility, we'll present you with your own clean energy superhero medal!
Tell us about your hero-ready site and we'll partner with you to bring ultra-clean energy to your neighbors!
