Hancock County Endorses New Cumberland Hydroelectric Project

Pittsburgh, PA—Current Hydro is proud to share that the Hancock County Commission has unanimously endorsed our planned hydroelectric facility at the New Cumberland Locks and Dam. In a recently approved letter of support, commissioners highlighted the project’s potential to drive economic growth, create long-term jobs, and expand renewable energy capacity for the region. Construction is slated to begin in early 2026, with more than 200 onsite workers expected during the two- to three-year build phase.
