PROJECT OVERVIEW
New power from existing infrastructure
The Emmett Sanders Hydroelectric Project will add 11.35 MW of new hydropower generation at the existing U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Emmett Sanders Lock and Dam (No. 4) on the Arkansas River. By putting existing federal infrastructure to work, the project is expected to generate approximately 95,820 MWh of reliable, renewable electricity annually, enough to power approximately 9,200 homes, without constructing a new dam or reservoir. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will continue to operate the existing lock and dam.
The Notice of Intent to File an Application, Pre-Application Document, and Proposed Study Plan were filed with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) in April 2026 under FERC Project No. 15330.
